Ysgoldy Seilo is your perfect retreat on Anglesey

Ysgoldy Seilo is a beautifully converted Victorian Sunday school with all the laidback comforts of an exclusive private home.

Location

Pengorffwysfa is situated on the north east of the island close to villages such as Benllech, Lligwy and Cemaes Bay, with the rest of Anglesey within easy reach.

Getting here

Ysgoldy Seilo is just over a mile from the A5025, in the small village of Pengorffwysfa, use postcode LL68 9LY or What3Words pretty.barks.paintings to find us.

History of Ysgoldy Seilo

The Sunday School of Capel Seilo was an addition in 1896 after the Chapel was originally built in 1835, just at the time Darwen was discovering the Galapagos. However, there has been a Chapel on this site since at least 1826. The buildings here today became Grade II listed as an example of an early C19 chapel retaining good character. This character has been retained and can be seen in the original restored ceiling roses, opaline lights over the kitchen island, beams, sash windows, front door and exterior of the buildings. Sitting at the top of the hill, the village is named Pengorffwysfa meaning Pen-head, gorffwys resting, which is understandable once you've walked up the hill to the village. It is one of several dispersed settlements in the Llaneillian community.
