Much of our coastline has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, come rain or shine the fabulous beaches offer something for everyone. Vast stretches of sand, safe swimming for the kids and windswept bays where a bracing walk and rock pooling are the call of the day.
PLAS NEWYDD
This National Trust property sits majestically on the shores of the Menai Strait, enjoying breathtaking views of Snowdonia. You can visit the house, is 40 acres of gardens and over 129 acres of woodlands. There's something for everyone including an adventure playground, treehouse, frisbee golf, café and shop.
MELIN LLYNON
Is the only surviving working windmill in Wales built in 1775. It's also the home of the famous Monuts, arguable Anglesey's best donuts, a chocolate shop, with a cafe, model safari trial with real Landrover and iron aged roundhouses, and on site parking.
RSPB SOUTH STACK YNYS LAWD
You'll find South Stack Cliffs on Holy Island in Anglesey, a wonderful reserve made up of heathland and farmland set on a stretch of dramatic sea cliffs which face the islets of South Stack. In spring, guillemots, razorbills and puffins breed on the iconic cliffs. The rare chough can be seen swooping along the cliffs all year round.
RNLI LIFEBOAT STATIONS
You can view the lifeboats both old and new at the Seawatch Centre and the Lifeboat station, documenting the history of the station and lives saved at sea. There's also a gift shop and on site parking.
ANGLESEY SEA ZOO
With over 150 species, all from around our coasts, come and discover Wales' largest marine aquarium. With a playground and crazy golf, as well as other activities this is a great day whatever the weather.
PARYS MOUNTAIN
Is a spectacular ancient copper mine with a level walk around the top of the Great pencast and a viewing area with a stunning panorama that shows off the excavation's amazing colours - an artist's palette of reds, oranges, pinks, browns, purples, blacks, greens, yellows, and greys.
THE DINGLE
Head to The Church of Cyngar in Llangefni and you'll find the Dingle (Nant Y Pandy) where you can walk along the boardwalk through the woodland, maybe spot a red squirrel or two, following the River Cefni you'll then eventually come to the reservoir, look out for dragonflies. Some great detailed guides can be found on the internet.
ABER FALLS DISTILLERY
Back over to the main land this whiskey distillery offer tours and gin making experiences, as well as an on site café kitchen and a host of events through the year. You could even take a walk to the Aber Falls, one of Snowdonia's most dramatic waterfalls.
BEAUMARIS CASTLE
A UNESCO world heritage site, with it's round drum towers and perfect symmetry is definitely worth a visit. It has an exhibition and gift shop, you can also check on cadw.gov.wales for upcoming events such as Knights school & Medieval festivals.
